I am a happy and unique individual who has decided to share my passion for life, entrepreneurship, software creation and aviation with the world.
But first, a little about me.
I, along with my identical twin brother, was born in Quito, Ecuador. We both joined our older brother to complete our little family, The Koprowski's. The Koprowski's are a diverse family, my Dad was born in Warsaw, Poland, and my Mom in Ecuador. They met in Budapest, Hungary where they attended university. Soon after I was born we moved to Canada, where my Dad was able to further his career as an Electrical Engineer specializing in Nuclear Medicine.
My childhood story includes much adaptation, from learning English in pre-school and Grade Primary, to making new friends in a new country. We moved to the United States, and became US Citizens. I graduated High School with an honors diploma from Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, CO. From here, I went to further my education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.
After growing up in many different cities, I fell in love with Northern Colorado. The mountains called my name and the people were genuine. I have made my best friends and deep personal connections here. I graduated from CSU with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and continued to learn and grow in this field.
Ever since I can remember I had a knack with computers. From my first epiphany when I turned on our family computer that I built from scratch in 1999, to developing complex software systems that are scalable, tested, and used by thousands. I have a passion for this craft and aim to better myself daily. Through my experience, I have learned that Test Driven Development drives results, and it just plain works for me. Through the teachings of Uncle Bob, and the many craftsmen in software before me, I have pursued the goal of excellence and always write my code to be readable, understandable and scalable.
In recent years, I have become a big fan of Swift and iOS application development. This is where my passion lies today. Publishing apps after rigorous design and implementation is super rewarding.
I enjoy creating something out of nothing, and especially solving problems with software. With many years of software development, I have developed many skills that help me be very productive. I practice the well known Pomodoro Technique to have a deep focus on any problem at hand, whether it be an in depth debug session or a well written blog post.
My hard work is put to good use when I have an idea or when I am developing an idea for someone else. My entrepreneurship pays off to get to the finish line and I love seeing a finished product. In my many years of software engineering I have led many projects that have produced results for big companies and single clients.
Family has been a staple in my life. My close family ties and support are the reason for my success. And last year in May 2019 I was fortunate enough to marry my best friend and the most beautiful woman in the world. Together we attain a magnificent work-life balance where we explore the world and pursue happiness on a daily basis. We also have a pitbull named Miss Jojo. I have done much volunteer work and advocacy on this specific breed, because all over the world pitbull's get a bad reputation. From my experience, however, they are the most loveable and fun breed. Many pitbulls have consumed my heart, and I continue striving to give them the reputation they deserve.
I have high hopes for life and wish to control my own destiny. I have attainable goals that I work hard to achieve on a consistent basis. When I put my mind to something, I make sure I get over any hurdles to accomplish the task at hand. Ever since I was a child, whenever someone would ask me "What do you want to be when you grow up?", I would answer "A pilot". I went about it in an unconventional way, but I made my dream come true. And I even pushed my dreams further. My next step in aviation is to build my airplane from a kit.
I began flight training after university at my local flight school. It was a dream come true. However, there was so much work and dedication involved, so I really had to work nights and weekends to make it happen. Now I am a certified Private Pilot, and an aircraft owner. Aviation is a subject that inspires, and now I wish to share this passion with the world. My favorite thing to do is take first timers up in a small single engine airplane. Their reaction is what dreams are made of, the endless possibilities are shown through their facial expressions and never ending grin. Please contact me if you have children that are interested in flight. Motivating and encouraging the next generation of pilots is only a small way I can give back to the awesome aviation community that has given so much to me and my family.
In addition to flying my airplane for fun and exploration, I have several other hobbies. The outdoors is where I thrive. Hiking the Colorado mountains with my wife and friends is a beautiful way to spend a day. Also, since moving to Colorado, all of my brothers and I took up snowboarding. It is one of my favorite pastimes, and connects me with nature. Colorado and Wyoming offer many mountain lakes and rivers to explore. If I can find a good cliff near some water, I most definitely will dive in! Ice hockey is my favorite sport, and I play in a weekly local men's league. Participating and winning with my teammates is one of the best feelings ever.
So, that is Andrew Koprowski in a nutshell. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please explore other blog posts and see what my most recent projects are. Always feel free to reach out, I enjoy interacting about all of the above topics.
